HACENADA PRESENTS: XXXY //

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Orca Recordings x Local Action will no longer be taking place at The Tube on SATURDAY 2nd JULY – however, do not fear, as HACENADA have stepped in and will certainly deliver!

Previously booked headliner XXXY will still be playing, rolling through with blissed out bass that’ll melt your mind, not your face…

The Manchester-based producer XXXY, known to his mum as Rupert, is known for refining the propulsive, foot-forward sound of UK garage. Over the past year he has built a solid reputation with milestone releases on Infrasonics and Fortified Audio, as well as featuring on the seminal Fabric compilation “Elevator Music”. The cheeky little number below is forthcoming on our favourite label: Well Rounded Records.

Support will come from three of the finest, forward thinking, future-funksters in the game – who just happen to be from Brighton: DOM, LORCA, BROWN NOISE and EL TOPPO.

One of the original pioneers of the Brighton scene, DOM has torn it apart at many of the legendary Dubpressure raves – you”ll recognize him for his flawless mixing and massive selection. Joining him, LORCA – the little man with a mighty mind for music! – is gonna keep things rumbling.

As always on our Saturday nights, ENTRY IS FREE before midnight and £5/4 thereafter.

It’s worth getting down early to make the most of our 2-4-1 cocktails, which will be pouring out of the bar until midnight too.

THE TUBE PRESENTS: WOOKIE + SUPPORT //

SATURDAY 23RD APRIL @ THE TUBE will see a night of UK Garage from WOOKIE.

We must first say that there have been some upheavals surrounding this event – with great regret we had to announce that our previously booked headliner, TODD EDWARDS, can no longer perform due a serious health issue. All of his forthcoming European dates have had to be cancelled, and he will spend the next few months recuperating – you can keep up to date with him on his Facebook Fan Page. We wish Todd all the best and fully intend on bringing him back to Brighton in the near future.

HOWEVER, all is not lost – we were very excited to bring a UK Garage legend to Brighton, and that is exactly what we are still going to do. We are pleased to say that WOOKIE will be stepping in to keep the night going!

One of the most legendary Garage and House Producers this country has produced, Wookie joins the dots between the two genres with undeniable finesse and lightness of touch. During the 90’s he began to integrate his sound into the scene with his legendary bootleg remixes, steadily picking up plays all over the country and paving the way for things to come. By the turn of the century, Wookie was regarded as one of the key players on the emerging Garage scene, receiving endless praise for his original UK sound and achieving international success when his debut album, the self-titled ‘Wookie’, received critical acclaim worldwide.

The gospel-tinged, jump-up R&B styles of ‘Battle’ – aguably Wookie’s most well known track – remains one of the finest Garage tunes of our time. Check it out below:

Supporting Wookie will be LIL KRIS and PASTE, and to further compensate for any disappointment regarding Todd Edwards we are offering FREE ENTRY BEFORE 12AM.

WELL ROUNDED 006: DEADBOY + SUPPORT //

WELL ROUNDED RECORDS present another label showcase at THE TUBE on SATURDAY 16TH APRIL.

Headlining the night will be DEADBOY. Signed to Well Rounded Records and based in London, this DJ/Producer holds a strong and highly respected place in the swiftly moving world of UK bass music. He saw huge success with the big release of his single ‘If U Want Me’ on the Numbers label – listen below to this absolute piece of genius…

Tapping into London’s rich musical history, from early 90’s Hardcore all the way through to present day UK Garage and House, Deadboy’s tracks also take influence from scenes across the pond, sharing a similar sense of melancholy that we saw in the first waves of Detroit Techno.

His music has been described as “heartache for the dancefloor”, and with his penchant for swinging garage beats and ethereal, pitch-shifting vocal samples, it’s not hard to see why. Read a nice little review and listen to/download a wicked mix he did for XLR8R by clicking HERE.

Joining Deadboy on the Well Rounded 006 bill will be LITTLEFOOT, also signed to the label and steadily making his sound heard across the UK. Usually based in Nottingham, he is bringing his mix of House, Garage and Techno down South for all us lucky people at The Tube.
DONGA, TEMPLE and BEN WHITE will be providing powerful support; so get yourselves down here for a well rounded night of madness!
Entry is £5 all night, doors open at 11pm and the party will go on late…

ENK BRIGHTON PRESENTS: ZED BIAS @ THE TUBE //

ENK BRIGHTON is proud to present none other than ZED BIAS, one of the most influential pioneers of Breakbeat Garage in the UK. He will be gracing the stage to show us how it’s done @ THE TUBE on SATURDAY 26TH MARCH…

You might have heard about ZED BIAS through one of his many pseudonyms: Maddslinky, Phuturistix, Henchmen, Daluq, Talissman, Ruffcut Bias, Nu Design, 7 Wonders, Dekata Project, Strontium Dog… The prolific amount of material Zed Bias has released, individually or in collaborations, is astounding. He has undeniably been a hugely powerful force in shaping the UK Garage scene.

Zed smashed into the UK Charts in 2000 with his track NEIGHBOURHOOD, now widely regarded as one of the classic UK Garage tracks of all time.

Incidentally, this track was re-released last year with a big Remix from ROSKA, who reshaped the tune with a UK Funky twist on the 2-Step, Broken Beat sound of Zed’s original.

It’s gonna be truly awesome to see Zed in The Tube’s intimate environment. Alongside him we will have blazing sets from ALL the ENK RESIDENT DJ’s, so put the date in your diary and step this way for a night to remember…

WELL ROUNDED 005: THIS SATURDAY //

It’s gonna be big, it’s gonna go down… THE TUBE keeps things rolling for its second weekend with a showcase from Well Rounded Records, this Saturday 19th March.

Headlining the night will be C.R.S.T, blending a hype and heavy mix of Garage, House and Funky; these four producers from South Wales are creating tidal waves in the music world and have shared the stage with big names such as Redlight, Tempa T, Rusko and Julio Bashmore to name but a few.

Lock in to this wicked mix C.R.S.T did recently for Rinse FM:

Joining C.R.S.T will be London-based producer JAMES FOX. His DJ sets sweep across a range of house, bass-driven rhythms and UK flavors, and he mixes these different elements – as well as breaking and reforming them – to create an other-worldly musical landscape, unrestricted by genre. With full support from producers such as Jackmaster and Brackles, he is emerging onto the scene with vigor and is definitely one to watch. Fox’s latest offering is about to drop on Well Rounded’s own label Housing Project… very smooth indeed:

Donga & Blake, plus Dubpressure founder Unlikely, will also be playing on the night.
