AKA AKA ROAR! PRESENT GRAPHICS, LORCA + MORE //

On SATURDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER, the team at AKA AKA ROAR will be running a takeover at The Tube, continuing their mission to showcase some of the best emerging talent the UK has to offer. Young and breakthrough DJ’s from Brighton and the surrounding area will give us a taste of their talent, what they’re all about, and where the future of music is headed…

As well as DJing, production is also on the line for these guys, with a good handful of releases available as vinyl 12″ and digital mp3.

Our headliner tonight will be GRAPHICS, based in Oxford and London and with material recently out on the Brighton-based Well Rounded Records imprint. His style is evocative and thoughtful, striking a balance between emotions and presenting a  bittersweet middle ground that we can all relate to. Check out his latest output “OK Rainbow / Adjectival E”, below, and get to know.

Next up is LORCA. Described as a “2-step tinged electronica producer”, he is well on his way, already making waves in the scene and earning a pretty big name for himself. Having acquired the attention and support of Resident Advisor and gigging around Brighton, London and festivals further afield (such as Big Chill) Lorca a.k.a Sam Cassman is definitely one to watch.
His profile on RA probably says it best… “Pulsing between atmospheric swells, voluminous vocals and a discerning 2-step framework, we find London-born Brighton-bred newcomer Sam Cassman aka Lorca with absolutely zero contrivance and a surplus of potential. His simultaneously soothing and surging EP contains ‘Moments’, which should be prescribed on the NHS in place of prozac, and ‘Hold Back’ on Left Blank which is a more sombre affair – rattling and echoing away, flanked by a church-like organ.”
See for yourself the mood-lifting and blissful warmth of “Moments”, below.

Rounding up the bill will be more vibes from ACTION JACKSON, HARBINGER and ROKEM. Expect an eclectic mix of house, bass and club music styles, and come down to make some discoveries whilst supporting your city and your music. Ego-free, fresh and all about the music, this will be crisp, energized and skilled.

Entry is just £2 before 12 and £3 thereafter – but get down early for 2-4-1 cocktails before midnight!
